A to Z of Business Growth Finance

18 October 2017

Our A to Z of Growth Finance workshop is a great way to get information and advice on the different types of finance and their role in growing your business. It explains the key features of debt and equity finance and what funders are looking for, so that you know what you need to do to make your business funding-ready

The workshop, first held in Northampton last month was attended by entrepreneurs and business owners with a wide variety of interests, including start-ups looking for initial funding, established businesses wanting to reduce the cost of borrowing and others that are expanding into new markets or investing in new premises and equipment. A key part of the business growth finance workshop, is the opportunity for participants to quiz fund managers behind the £250million Midlands Engine Investment. (see www.meif.co.uk).

We had some great feedback on the event; workshop attendees spoke of it being ‘realistic, interesting, to-the-point and giving lots of vital information’. Brian Jerome of Arkle Finance Ltd said it was a “thorough, step-by-step analysis of the funding options and how to acquire them”. The fund managers were much in demand , “In fact the last delegate didn’t leave the room until an hour and a half after the workshop had finished!” James Stancombe, a Velocity Growth Hub Business adviser.

The workshop forms one element of the support that Velocity Growth Hub provides to access growth funding. James and other Velocity Growth Hub business advisers can assist you to deal with issues that prevent your business from becoming funding-ready and refer you to specialist support and funding brokers when necessary. Other Velocity workshops include business marketing plans, presentation skills and pitching for business, will provide you with a grounding in key aspects of the funding process.

If you are specifically seeking equity finance, Velocity Growth Hub runs a day-long Investment Masterclass with in-depth guidance from professional advisers on the legal, accounting and financial consequences of equity finance and featuring valuable insights from investors and entrepreneurs who do deals themselves.

James Stancombe said, “Our aim is to give you the knowledge, information and confidence to press ahead with your growth plans”
