A unique mentoring programme for organisations looking to grow
The Lord Lieutenant Mentoring Programme is unique. Created by James Saunders Watson, Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, the mentoring programme brings together leaders from the best businesses across the county.
Lord Lieutenant Watson recognised that running a business isn’t a straightforward path to success. There are many challenges and multiple pitfalls to overcome. Running your own business can often feel lonely and uncertain, even for those businesses that are seeing growth. Lord Lietenant Watson wanted to establish a programme that opened channels of communication between Northamptonshire’s leading business professionals and its future leaders, to suppport them on the journey.

The programme is made up of 10 mentors, including Kings Award winners, Non Executive Directors and CEOs who’ve volunteered to provide support to businesses. Your mentor will provide a fresh perspective, be a sounding board for ideas and innovation, and offer advice and guidance to help you build confidence to drive forward your business plans.
Have a business based in Northamptonshire
Be experiencing or projecting high growth in the next 2 to 3 years
Have 1 or more employees (not including directors)
Current annual turnover of £250,000 or greater
Our mentors have years of experience building and leading successful businesses. If you require strategic support or you’re looking to enhance your leadership capabilities, the Lord Lieutenant Mentoring Programme is for you.
You’ll be carefully paired with a mentor who has the right experience to support your organisation. We’re not focused on matching sector to sector, or industry to industry. Our objective is to pair you with a mentor who can provide you with support and experience most relevant to your business challenges and objectives.
This is a unique opportunity to tap into the extensive knowledge of Northamptonshire’s best and brightest business leaders. You’ll learn, observe and receive support from leaders who’ve experienced and overcome the challenges your business may face, and have chartered their route to success.
Once paired with a mentor, you’ll receive 8 hours of one-to-one support, over a 4-month period.

To apply, please register your interest by clicking the button below. You will then be contacted by a Growth Hub business adviser within five working days. If eligible, the business adviser will organise a chemistry meeting with one of the mentors to establish if it’s a suitable fit.
