Northampton businesses have been given the chance to turbo charge their growth plans by signing up for a free digital masterclass with Google.
The internet giants have teamed up with David Mackintosh, Conservative MP for Northampton South, and Velocity Growth Hub to stage an exclusive ‘digital garage’ for 40 local firms at the Park Inn by Raddison in Silver Street, Northampton later this month.
Experts from Google will run a seminar and one-to-one mentoring sessions offering advice and tips to local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs on making the internet a growth engine for their business.
David Mackintosh MP said: “Digital skills and the internet hold the key to success in today’s world. They provide the opportunities for small, local businesses to grow and expand and bring more jobs to the local area.
“Digital training for all business owners is therefore critical, and Google’s pioneering efforts to address this knowledge gap should be applauded. They are a world leader in technology, and the opportunity for businesses to learn key digital skills from them should not be missed.”
The tour is part of Google’s Digital Garage project – a commitment to provide digital skills training over 200,000 small businesses across the UK.
Government research shows that SMEs with a strong web presence grow more than twice as quickly as competitors, create more than twice as many jobs, and are 50 per cent more likely to sell outside of their immediate region.
By encouraging and supporting a variety of businesses to use the internet effectively, from entrepreneurs and one-man-band start-ups, to larger companies, these workshops aim to prove that, with the right training, any business can become a digital business.
Alice Mansergh, director of Google Marketing Solutions for UK and Ireland, said: “Google’s products and free digital training are a growth engine for people and businesses up and down the country.
“If you live in or around Northampton and you want to boost your career, or turbocharge your business, join us at our Digital Garage and talk to our experts. We can help you connect to new customers, help boost your productivity or improve your employability no matter what field you work in.”
The Digital Garage on tour has been designed to support and advise businesses regardless of their technical expertise – from complete tech novices creating their first website, through to improving an existing website and online marketing.
The session will be held at the Park Inn by Raddison in Silver Street, Northampton from 10am to noon on Friday, February 24. Businesses can sign up at https://events.withgoogle.com/digital-garage-on-tour-northampton/
Places are strictly limited and will be reserved on a first come, first served basis.
