On Tuesday 24th September, the South Midlands Authorities launched their new website, uniting the South Midlands Growth Hub and South Midlands Careers Hub under one, easy to access platform.
Recognising the need to strengthen the links between education and industry support, the new platform establishes a digital presence for the South Midlands Authorities – enabling users to directly access both the Growth Hub and Careers Hub through one platform.
The development of a dedicated website for the South Midlands Careers Hub is exciting for the region. With a fresh and modern design, schools, colleges and volunteers from industry will find it easier than ever to discover how they can get involved.
Yvonne Ashby, Strategic Hub Lead explained: “This is an important day for the South Midlands Careers Hub, and the region. In our short history, we’ve worked hard to establish strong and lasting relationships with schools and colleges. To date, we’ve connected over 600 Industry Champions and over 100 Industry Partners to support careers education programmes across the region
“Our new website will enable us to continue supporting schools and colleges while providing partners with a central platform to share news, events, and volunteering opportunities, fostering collaboration and engagement.”
Both the Growth Hub & Careers Hub continue to offer support to all businesses, charities and schools across Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire, Luton, Milton Keynes, North and West Northamptonshire.

ABOUT SOUTH MIDLANDS AUTHORITIES
The South Midlands Authorities (prev. the Central Area Growth Board) is a partnership between the local authorities of Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedford Council, Luton Council, Milton Keynes City Council, North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council.
Since 2018 the Central Area Growth Board had worked alongside the Growth Hub and the Careers Hub to coordinate and strengthen cross-boundary working across the region.
Following the government announcement for Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) functions to be hosted by local authorities from April 2024, the Growth Hub and the Careers Hub are now being hosted by West Northamptonshire Council, on behalf of the six South Midlands councils. This transition from LEP to local authorities presented a new opportunity to consolidate the South Midlands Authorities (formerly known as Central Area Growth Board) the Growth Hub and the Careers Hub under a unified brand in order to better serve the region.
